In its 13th year, California’s only Busker Festival took over Seaport Village last month for two fun-filled days dedicated to celebrating the mesmerizing talents of street performers from around the world! On March 2 and March 3, San Diego locals and visitors alike gathered along the village’s cobblestone plazas and waterfront stages to enjoy close to two dozen eye-catching acts, from sword swallowing and fire blowing to high-flying acrobatics and unbelievable balancing acts. This year’s lineup was one of the most exciting yet, with featured performances including the mind-bending illusions of Jonathan Strange and the soulful acoustic sounds of singer Bri Schillings.
The performances carried on into the late night on Saturday with Buskers After Dark, where guests 18 and older were treated to “untamed” adult-centric performances and live beats from local DJ Equanimous. Upon the final day of the festival, the festivities culminated with a “People’s Choice” award for the fan-favorite performance. The big winner of the $500 grand prize was Reidiculous Reid, a Florida-born street performer who kept the crowd on their toes with a thrilling performance combining acrobatics and knife juggling and classic comedy!
Seaport Village would like to thank all participating performers, musicians, retailers and restaurants for being a part of this amazing annual event. We look forward to next year’s celebration!
